Sept 1, 2012 ~ Saturday

We left early for a five hour drive to Reed Point, MT.  That's about an hour more than our usual drive but we had trouble finding a place to stay.

I have been pretty surprised by the landscape in MT that we have seen.  I thought it was more big mountains but we have seen a lot of valleys with lots of pasture land.  On this trip, we saw a lot of deer and antelope in the fields, starting about an hour west of Reed Point.  Watching for them really made the trip go faster.  There wasn't places to pull off and get pictures, unfortunately.  We also saw two eagles and a couple of babies in their nest, perched atop a power pole.  I REALLY wish I could have pulled off to get photos but there just wasn't room.  We saw Magpies but again, no chance to get photos and they don't stay put for long anyway so getting photos of them has been a challenge.

There was a Smoke Jumper Center for fighting forest fires located in Kalispell.  Judy got this shot of one of two people, evidently doing training jumps as we traveled down the highway.  Good job Judy!

A quick walk at a rest area.

It's good to get out of the truck!
